What is ISO 9001:2015
For those that do not know ISO, it stands for International Organization for Standardization. The numbers 9001 is the set of standards that refer to a basic quality management system that can be used in industries of any size and type anywhere in the world. Registration to ISO 9001 provides objective proof that a business has implemented and satisfied all the requirements of a quality management system. The numbers 2015 just refer to the most updated version of the ISO standard which was revised in 2015. “ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be certified to (although this is not a requirement).
ISO standards can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. In fact, there are over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries certified to ISO 9001. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.
